Ingredients
- 2 cups water
- 1 tablespoon fresh grated ginger
- 1 teaspoon ground turmeric (or 1 tablespoon fresh turmeric)
- 1 small cinnamon stick
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon honey (optional)
- Lemon slices and fresh mint for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Pour the water into a small saucepan and bring it to a gentle boil.
- Add the grated ginger, turmeric, cinnamon stick, and black pepper.
- Reduce the heat and simmer for 8–10 minutes.
- Remove from the heat and strain the tea into two mugs.
- Stir in the fresh lemon juice.
- Add honey to taste if desired.
- Garnish with a lemon slice or fresh mint and serve warm.
Recipe Notes
- Fresh turmeric provides a brighter flavor than ground turmeric.
- Black pepper helps improve the absorption of curcumin, the active compound in turmeric.
- Honey can be omitted for a sugar-free version.
