Ingredients

  • 2 cups purple (red) cabbage, chopped into wedges

  • 1 cup fresh blueberries (frozen allowed if thawed slightly)

  • 2 medium sweet apples (e.g., Honeycrisp, Gala, or Fuji), cored and quartered

  • 1/2 medium English cucumber, sliced in half lengthwise

  • 1/2 inch fresh ginger root, peeled

  • 1/2 medium lemon, peeled (keep the white pith for nutrients)

Step-by-Step Instructions

1.Prep the Produce:10 minutes prep time.

Wash all produce thoroughly under cold running water. Chop the purple cabbage into long, slim wedges that easily fit your juicer’s chute. Core and quarter the apples. Peel the ginger and lemon skin.

2.Juice the Soft Ingredients:Juicer on low speed if applicable.

Start by feeding the blueberries and lemon through the juicer. Running softer, higher-pulp ingredients early ensures their juice is fully flushed out by harder produce later.

3.Juice the Cabbage and Ginger:Juicer on medium-high speed.

Alternate feeding pieces of purple cabbage with the ginger root. The fibrous cabbage helps push the soft berry pulp through the extraction screen.

4.Finish with Apple and Cucumber:Juicer on high speed.

Feed the apple quarters and cucumber slices last. Their high water content acts as a natural cleanser, pushing through remaining pigments and flavors from the cabbage and berries.

5.Stir, Chill, and Serve:Immediate consumption recommended.

Stir the juice well with a spoon to blend the layers. Pour over ice in tall glasses and serve immediately for peak flavor and enzyme activity.

Storage & Preservation

  • Refrigeration: Store any extra juice immediately in an airtight glass jar or mason jar filled to the brim (minimizing air exposure helps prevent oxidation).

  • Duration: Consume within 24 hours for optimal nutrient density, though it remains safe and tasty for up to 48 hours.

  • Separation: Natural separation is normal—simply shake or stir before drinking.
