Ingredients

  • 6 ripe Roma tomatoes
  • 2 jalapeño peppers
  • 2 serrano peppers
  • ½ medium white onion, chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • ¼ cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil (optional)

Instructions

Step 1: Roast the Vegetables

Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Roast the tomatoes, jalapeños, serrano peppers, and garlic for about 8–10 minutes, turning occasionally until lightly charred on all sides.

Step 2: Cool Slightly

Allow the roasted vegetables to cool for about 5 minutes before blending.

Step 3: Blend the Salsa

Transfer the roasted tomatoes, peppers, garlic, chopped onion, cilantro, lime juice, salt, cumin, and black pepper to a blender or food processor.

Pulse until you reach your desired consistency. Blend less for a chunky salsa or longer for a smoother texture.

Step 4: Taste and Adjust

Taste the salsa and add more salt or lime juice if needed. If you want extra heat, blend in another serrano pepper.

Step 5: Rest

For the best flavor, refrigerate the salsa for 15 minutes before serving. This allows the ingredients to blend together beautifully.
