Ingredients
For the Crispy Chicken
- 2 large chicken breasts, sliced into strips
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1½ cups breadcrumbs or panko breadcrumbs
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Vegetable oil for frying
For the Wraps
- 4 large flour tortillas
- 2 cups shredded lettuce
- 1 large tomato, diced
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ cup sliced cucumber (optional)
- ¼ cup sliced red onion
Creamy Sauce
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons sour cream
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 teaspoon mustard
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Chicken
Pat the chicken strips dry using paper towels. Season them evenly with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
Step 2: Coat the Chicken
Place the flour in one bowl, beaten eggs in another, and breadcrumbs in a third bowl. Dip each chicken strip into the flour, then into the eggs, and finally coat thoroughly with breadcrumbs.
Step 3: Fry the Chicken
Heat vegetable oil in a large frying pan over medium heat until it reaches approximately 350°F (175°C). Fry the chicken strips for 4–5 minutes per side, or until golden brown and fully cooked. The internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C). Transfer the cooked chicken to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
Step 4: Make the Sauce
In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, sour cream, ketchup, mustard, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir until smooth and creamy.
Step 5: Warm the Tortillas
Heat each tortilla in a dry skillet for about 20–30 seconds per side or microwave for 15 seconds until soft and flexible.
Step 6: Assemble the Wraps
Spread a generous spoonful of the creamy sauce over each tortilla. Add shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheddar cheese, cucumber, and red onion. Place several crispy chicken strips on top.
Step 7: Wrap and Serve
Fold in both sides of the tortilla and roll it tightly from the bottom to form a secure wrap. Slice each wrap in half and serve immediately.
Recipe Tips
- Use panko breadcrumbs for an extra crispy texture.
- Grill the chicken instead of frying for a lighter version.
- Add avocado slices for extra creaminess.
- Include pickles or jalapeños for added flavor.
- Warm tortillas before wrapping to prevent tearing.
Variations
- Spicy Crispy Chicken Wrap: Add cayenne pepper to the breadcrumb mixture and drizzle with spicy mayo.
- BBQ Chicken Wrap: Replace the creamy sauce with barbecue sauce.
- Buffalo Chicken Wrap: Toss the cooked chicken in buffalo sauce before assembling.
- Caesar Chicken Wrap: Use Caesar dressing and Parmesan cheese instead of the creamy sauce.
- Healthy Wrap: Use whole-wheat tortillas and air-fried chicken.
Storage
Store the chicken separately in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in an oven or air fryer to maintain crispiness. Assemble fresh wraps just before serving for the best texture.
