Ingredients

  • 3 cups fresh blueberries
  • 3 large ripe peaches, peeled, pitted, and diced
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • Pinch of fine sea salt

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Fruit

Wash the blueberries thoroughly and drain well.

Peel the peaches, remove the pits, and dice them into small pieces.

Place both fruits into a large saucepan.

Step 2: Combine the Ingredients

Add the sugar, lemon juice, lemon zest, vanilla extract, cinnamon (if using), and a pinch of salt.

Stir gently until the fruit is evenly coated with the sugar.

Allow the mixture to rest for about 10 minutes so the fruit begins releasing its natural juices.

Step 3: Cook the Jam

Place the saucepan over medium heat.

Bring the mixture to a gentle boil while stirring frequently.

As the fruit softens, use a potato masher or wooden spoon to lightly mash some of the peaches and blueberries.

Continue cooking for 25–30 minutes, stirring often to prevent sticking.

The jam is ready when it thickens and coats the back of a spoon.

For a smoother consistency, use an immersion blender for a few quick pulses, leaving some fruit pieces for texture.

Step 4: Test the Consistency

Place a small spoonful of jam onto a chilled plate.

Allow it to cool for one minute.

Run your finger through the center. If the jam wrinkles and doesn’t immediately flow back together, it has reached the proper consistency.

If needed, continue cooking for another 3–5 minutes and test again.

Step 5: Cool the Jam

Remove the saucepan from the heat.

Allow the jam to cool for about 15 minutes.

Transfer the warm jam into clean, sterilized glass jars.

Cool completely before sealing.

Refrigerate until ready to use.

Tips for the Best Jam

  • Use ripe but firm peaches for the best flavor and texture.
  • Fresh blueberries provide the brightest taste, but frozen blueberries work well too.
  • Stir frequently during cooking to prevent scorching.
  • Don’t overcook, as the jam will continue to thicken while cooling.
  • Sterilize jars before storing the jam.
  • Add a pinch of nutmeg or fresh thyme for a unique flavor variation.
